Before joining RADIO LONDON, Fred Koslov was in a trio called "Ailanthus" with Stuart Douglas (12-string guitar) and David Frumkin (6-string guitar and violin), playing a blend of folk-flavored originals and interesting, mostly-acoustic covers (from Springsteen to Nilsson). Back in the spring of '02, Ailanthus re-grouped with the addition of John Simon on 6-string guitar (and all four guys taking turns playing bass guitar) under the new name "A Fine Kettle of Fish."
The quartet released their first recording "Catch of the Day" on April 18th, 2003. Click here for all the info.
In a bittersweet twist, band member Fred Koslov passed away two weeks after the release of the album. He'd been battling cancer for several years and wanted to leave a tangible document of the band behind. The good news is that he lived to see the fruits of his labors, and that he played up a storm at the CD Release Party. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and bandmates and family, but his music will be ringing on in these parts for years to come....
